A modern port could be built in Bratislava. A billion-euro project would employ thousands and withstand a thousand-year flood.

The project would strengthen Bratislava’s position as a major center of international trade.

• The company WIN–PORT Invest s.r.o. has unveiled a visualization of a new port on the Danube River, located in Bratislava’s Vlčie Hrdlo, reports Yimba.

• The project, named Harbour Park, would either supplement or replace the current port.

• The investment would amount to 1 billion euros.

The port would create 2,400 jobs in skilled professions. The project would include a cargo basin, a logistics park with warehouses and infrastructure, as well as a connection to the R7 expressway. The port could also be used by the public, thanks to extensive public amenities. The project is designed to withstand a thousand-year flood. The port could accommodate 22 ships and 14 cranes.

The project must go through the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA/SEA) process. Bratislava residents will have to wait about a year for the final decision.

If Harbour Park is built, it will be considered an investment of national significance, greatly increasing the development potential of Bratislava’s port and strengthening the city’s position as a major hub for international trade, transportation, and logistics.
